Here Come the Prizes!

Hey everyone, just another update on the competition and it’s in video form! I have, over the last couple of weeks, been storing up some of the prize boxes coming in so I could record a video to show you guys what all we’re going to have this year.

As you can see there is already a lot to give away for this year’s competition and just so you all know I’m most likely going to be splitting up prizes to go to the divisions 1A Freestyle 1st – 3rd, the Y Freestyle 1st – 3rd, and the Overall Sports Ladder 1st – 3rd. Depending on the amount of prizes left over after that I’ll then distribute some to the age groups of the sports ladder.

Still waiting on prizes from YoYoJam that I’m told were shipped, and from Caribou Lodge Yo-Yo Works that I’ve been told will be shipped once those folks get home from the Bay Area Classic competition, and the gift certificates the YoYoNation said they would be providing. There are two more days until I finalize what I’ve got for sponsors and start making the design for the shirts and posters. If you want to sponsor this year’s competition you need to contact me no later than 5pm Mountain Time on Wednesday the 10th of June.

Hope everyone is having a rawkin’ Monday!

More Sponsors!

Hey everyone, this update is a little overdue but it works just fine because as I’m writing this I got an email of another sponsor to join in on supporting this year’s competition! New this week to supporting IDYYC09 is: YoYoExpert.Com, YoYoJam, Duncan, Caribou Lodge Yo-Yo Works, and YoYoFactory! I’m extremely happy with the amount of response I’ve received thus far from the yo-yo industry in it’s efforts to support this year’s competition!

I had a few boxes of prizes arrive this week as well and will be highlighting those and the sponsors who sent them later on this weekend (probably on Sunday). Please check back soon to see the goods!

Sanctioning and Prizes

Hey there! Just updating everyone on the current status of the competition. The 2009 Idaho Yo-Yo Championships is now sanctioned by the American Yo-Yo Association and as of today it is recognized as the official Idaho Yo-Yo Championships by the National Yo-Yo League. What I’m working on right now is obtaining a few more of the sponsors from last year’s competition and I’m looking for new sponsors to help with the prize bags for the competition winners.

So far we’ve received our first box of prizes from Infinite Illusions (or YoYoGuy) and we’re waiting on prizes from other sponsors. As I stated in a previous post CoachAmerica is sponsoring the competition by covering the website expenses. YoYoNation will be contributing gift certificates from their store for the winners. My company, Double-Take Industries, will be providing this year’s competition shirts (which will have our logo that is being developed on the front, and a list of this year’s sponsors on the back). Buzz-On Industries will be providing some of their new beginner yo-yos and possibly others (not sure yet). Yo-Yos.net is also contributing as they have in the past, but I’m not sure what yet; usually is a book on yo-yo collecting written by Lucky Meisenheimer.

I’m going to follow up with Duncan, YoYoJam, TheYo.com, and a few new companies to check their interest in sponsoring the competition this year. If you have any companies you think I should be approaching please let me know, any input is appreciated!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Sponsorships and Registration

Hey everyone! We are now a month out from this year’s competition and things are quickly coming together. We’ve acquired sponsorship for the website by CoachAmerica, a local based company which helps coach individuals with money management. I’d like to thank them very much for their help! We’ve also been sanctioned by the American Yo-Yo Association, thanks to Dave Schulte from the AYYA for reminding me to do this!

Other sponsors who’ve signed on to date include Infinite Illusions (or YoYoGuy), Double-Take Industries, Yo-Yos.Net, YoYoNation.com, and Buzz-On Industries. I’m working on getting a few more sponsors on board from last year’s competition and have set the deadline to finalize sponsors to the 10th of June. If you know of any companies you think I should contact or have a company yourself and would like to help out please let me know via comment or message sent through the ‘contact us’ page.

Since the last update I’ve also talked with and verified that Dave Bazan (Buzz-On Industries) will be a judge for this year’s competition. I myself will most likely be a judge for this year’s competition. More than likely however John Bozung and Russ Bean will be judging the competition again and have indicated interest in doing so.

Finally, I’ve gotten the registration page set up here on the website. The purpose of this is to help me determine how much time should be put into which divisions. By preregistering online you will only have to pay $5.00 to register for the one division you sign up for. If you wait until after the 10th of June to register for the competition the price for registering for one event will cost you $7.50. To sign up for additional events it will cost you $2.50 regardless of your preregistering or registering at the event. It is not necessary for you to pay online when you preregister to get your discount on registration, it is however appreciated as it will help cover some of the promotional costs of this years competition.

That pretty much covers all of the updates up until this point, if you have any questions please leave them as comments to this post; Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

New Site Layout and Registration

Just spent about eight hours pulling together the website template that I will be using and updating from here on out. It contains the rules, sponsors, registrations, about and contact us page. I’m considering putting up a gallery of previous competition pictures except that in the past that’s cut out bandwidth severely.

Pre-Registration for the competition starts on Monday, May 18, 2009. If you pre-register for the competition on the website it will only cost you $5.00 to enter one division of your choice. If you’d like to enter any other division it will cost you $2.50 per division. These fees are going towards covering the high costs of running the competition (promotion, prizes, judges, etc.) If you have any questions please ask them by commenting on this blog post.

Finally we have Dave Bazan on board as a judge for this year’s competition and tentatively Russ Bean. If you have judged a competition before and would like to help out as a judge please contact me through the contact us page to let me know.

Thanks for reading, hope everyone is having a great day!

Venue Decided and Sponsorship Aquisition (Judges?)

Hey everyone! I just got the venue hammered out with the Gem County Chamber of Commerce; We’ll be having this year’s competition at the 2009 Cherry Festival on June 20th. You can see that information at the top of this page. Right now I’m working on getting three more sponsors and will be working out the schedule for the competition. We also need judges for this year’s competition, if you’ve been a judge for use before or have judge in other state, regional, national, or world competition and would like to help me out send me an email at idahoyoyo@gmail.com. Thanks!
